What sells on eBay?
Almost anything will sell on eBay, but there are some things that are more likely to do well than others.
eBay has some very specific guidelines about what they will and will not allow to be sold on there, so of course we cannot accept anything for sale that is on eBay's prohibited and restricted items list, and any item you consign to us for sale must be legally yours to sell. Note that we do have the necessary licenses to be able to offer all dental and some medical and veterinary devices and equipment for sale to licensed, qualified buyers. That does not, of course, include any medications or drugs.
In the past, Electricdeal has sold items ranging from artwork to automobiles, computers to vacuum cleaners, and though almost anything will sell, some guidelines should be kept in mind.
Items that are very large may have limited market opportunities. Your sofa may be a very desirable piece of furniture, but unless it is likely to command a very high price because of it's origin, historical significance or designer label, it is unlikely to be a good eBay sales item. Sure, people sell sofas on eBay every day, but the price tag relative to the cost of shipping may narrow the field of buyers so much that it won't bring the kind of price you expect or need. On the other hand, it may be appropriate to offer that very fine piece of furniture for sale with a local pickup option only, so that the high cost of shipping isn't an impediment to a local buyer looking for a great deal. In general, items whose shipping costs exceed their purchase value may be difficult to sell, but this is a guideline, and certainly not a rule.
Collectable items and antiques can do very well on eBay, but you'll need to have proof of their origin and any provenance. Used computers and electronics can be sold on eBay, though used, recent generation laptops do better than desktop computers. Computers that are older than a couple years probably aren't salable. Housewares, office equipment, cameras, watches, collectable books, toys, almost any retail item can be sold. Frequently, retail and collectable items sell more easily and for higher amounts if they include the original packaging.
Bulk lots and industrial quantities can do very well on eBay, though as in the case of other large or heavy items, shipping costs may limit the range of potential buyers. Designer and jewelry and costume jewelry can do well on eBay, but many expensive jewelry items fare less well, perhaps it's because jewelry is such a subjective class of items, or perhaps it's because it's often difficult to present photographs that do fine jewelry justice.
